iPod Turns 12 Years Old

Twelve years ago yesterday was the launch of the first iPod. It came with a 5GB hard drive, 160-by-128-pixel screen, FireWire port, and a physical scroll wheel.

Today, Apple keeps a similar design with the iPod Classic. The scroll wheel has moved to a touch pad and there is no FireWire connection. Instead it is a 30-pin connection. It now also comes in 160GB. The iPod Classic hasn't seen an update for 1,524 days, but Apple still sells it online and at retail stores.
