Gorilla Glass 3 at 2013 CES?
Speaking of the iPhone 5S rumors, we have yet another one. This one is about the glass Apple will use on the screen of the iPhone 6. We will most likely see it on the iPhone 6 over the 5S because the 5S is so far into production that there wouldn’t be enough time to change the glass. Corning just put out a press release saying they will be announcing Gorilla Glass 3 at the 2013 CES this next week. Apple has been using Gorilla Glass for years so it would be no surprise if they used Gorilla Glass 3 on the iPhone 6. Gorilla Glass 1 has been seen on products like the iPhone 4 and 4S and Gorilla Glass 2 on devices like the iPhone 5. According to Engadget, Gorilla Glass 3 is said to have 40% reduction in the number of visible scratches and 50% boost in retained strength after the glass becomes flawed. This doesn’t mean that you can throw your iPhone at the wall, but you can keep your keys near the phone and go on without any scratches. Here is the full press release:
