Certain Text Messages Causing iPhones to Crash
We have learned today that a certain string of text messages sent by a contract can cause your iPhone to crash and reboot. This works by having the word "power" followed by a certain string of Arabic characters sent to you either via SMS or iMessage. Once the message is opened, the phone will respring. When the phone restarts and the messages app is opened again, the process will start over.
While we haven't heard anything from Apple on this matter, there are a few fixes for now. If the person that sent you the initial message sends you another message, this should fix it. Other fixes include sending yourself a message via Siri or sending a picture to the contact.
