Amazon Launches 'Fire TV'
After today's media event, Amazon has launched their Apple TV competitor "Fire TV". As we expected, this is a set-top box. It includes a Bluetooth remote. Inside is 2 GB of RAM, 1080p support, HDMI, and dual-antenna Wi-Fi. Much like the Apple TV, this is very small, thin, and looks good. The interface is much like the Apple TV, with four rectangle icons going across. Some of the apps include Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, HuluPlus, Plex, Pandora, Showtime, Flixter, Vevo, and much more.
The back IO includes a single power, HDMI, optical audio, ethernet, and USB port. The box is only .7 inches thick, 4.5 inches wide, and 4.5 inches tall. The remote is 1.5 inches wide, 5.5 inches tall, and .6 inches thick. On the remote is a voice search button, microphone, navigation wheel, select button, back, home, and menu button, and a rewind, pause/play, and a fast forward button.
People who want to buy the Fire TV can do so here. Like the Apple TV and Roku, this is only $99.
